Jeanette Massocchi

Co-Founder, Previous Musical Director and “Vice-President for life” of St. Woolos Sinfonia

Jeanette Massocchi, of Italian/Welsh ancestry, is a graduate of the Royal Academy of Music, London, where she studied singing and piano accompaniment. In her last year as a student, she was fortunate to work as accompanist to some of the leading singers of the day, specialising in German Lieder and French Mélodie.

She worked as a singer and répétiteur with opera companies and choral societies, on radio and television, in the United Kingdom, Canada, Germany, Italy, Jordan and Switzerland. She was the official accompanist for the Royal National Eisteddfod of Wales, the Llangollen International Eisteddfod and the Welsh National Opera Male Choir. At that time she was also Senior Lecturer in Music at the Royal Welsh College in Cardiff.

She is guest professor on the British Kodály Academy Diploma course.

She is in great demand as a vocal coach and accompanist, giving concerts, master classes and choral workshops throughout the United Kingdom and abroad. The Royal Academy of Music has honoured Jeanette Massocchi with an Associateship, in recognition of her achievements and contribution to the world of music.

Since 2009, Jeannette Massocchi has been professor of the International Summer Academy of Choral Conducting and Music Pedagogy, Las Palmas, Gran Canaria.

In 2011, Jeannette Massocchi received the Honorary Archbishop of Wales’ Award for Church Music.
